What will the apprentice be doing?

Rehabilitation Engineering is the use of engineering principles to develop technological solutions and devices to assist individuals with disabilities.  Wheelchair Service based Rehabilitation Engineers work with Therapists to select the wheelchair and seating that will achieve the best mobility, support and comfort for people with long term disabilities.  They may design, assemble or adjust the seating and wheelchair to meet individual needs.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 6 (Degree Level) – Healthcare Science Practitioner (Clinical Engineering) from the University of the West of England.

Study time will be in blocks, with the majority of your time learning on the job from industry experts.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Progression to a qualified rehabilitation engineer
