Sara, from Bristol, started teaching in 1988 in Yeovil, Somerset where she taught Primary phase until 1995. The school had a high proportion of pupils with additional needs. It was this experience that led her on her career pathway to date.
In 1995, Sara became a Special Needs Coordinator (SENCO), which she continued for 11 years in three large inner city Primary schools in Lincoln and Bristol.
In 2006, Sara joined the Bristol Autism Team as a Specialist Support Teacher. Her role was to support schools in their understanding of Autism and provide and model strategies to enable pupils with Autism to achieve positive outcomes. In 2009, Sara was made Team Manager/Head of Service alongside her school role, managing a team of 13 staff, which included teachers, Learning Support Assistants and family support workers. Sara was also actively involved at strategic level within Bristol City Council and was lead practitioner for Bristol’s ‘Social Communication & Interaction Needs’ pathway. In 2017 Sara was appointed as Head Teacher at SGS Pegasus school. Pegasus School is a new Free School in South Gloucestershire, which opened in September 2017, catering for boys and girls, aged 4-18 with complex communication difficulties such as Autism.
Gareth ListerInterim Principal at SGS Berkeley Green UTC
Gareth Lister has been appointed as Interim Principal at SGS Berkeley Green UTC. Gareth has been teaching for 12 years, and his career has involved educating a wide range of students from a number of different schools. Once he had completed his Computer Science degree he taught ICT and Computing at a school in Birmingham before moving down to the South West to continue his career in Wiltshire. He is an experienced senior school leader with a proven track record of leading on student success.
Gareth has a passion for both education and technology, and he is dedicated to supporting the next generation of Engineers and Computer Scientists.
Gareth's role will be to ensure the pursuit of technical and academic excellence at the UTC, inspiring staff and students towards a passion for quality and the development of a culture of technical and academic success.
Paul HolroydForest High School Head Teacher
Paul Holroyd was appointed as the Headteacher of the Forest High School on January 3rd 2017.
Paul has extensive leadership experience in a number of schools in Gloucestershire since he took up a Head of Learning Support at Central Technology College (now Gloucester Academy) in 1990.
Progression saw Paul becoming Deputy Head at Gloucestershire Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), where he was appointed Headteacher before moving onto the Gloucester, Forest and Stroud PRU for 4-16 year olds.
Paul has worked with many primary and secondary schools in the County and has been an Ofsted Inspector in secondary schools.
Paul joined the Forest High School from Woodway Federation of Schools, where he was Executive Principal of two special schools, offering primary and secondary education for students with Social, Emotional or Mental Health issues.
