This year the UTC is offering the RTX First Tech Challenge to our year 10 and 11 students as part of their enrichment sessions. Our new team of 15 students, called Bits and Bots, have had an incredible start to this year’s season. Their challenge this year is called BIOBUZZ and focuses on working with another team to collect “pollen” and launch it into a “hive”. To complete this the team needs to build and program a robot with the capabilities of driving, launching and collecting plastic balls autonomously and with a controller. This challenge is chance for our team to demonstrate their abilities in programming and engineering but also time management, resource management, financial planning and working as a team towards one goal. This week they were visited by their Mentor from Raytheon to help guide their initial steps of planning and designing how they will approach this challenge.
