Two of our more environmentally conscious Year 11 students, Megan and Luke, represented Berkeley Green in a UK-wide Tomorrow’s Engineers Schools COP debate. Ahead of the upcoming COP#26 summit in Glasgow, these young people are representing the next generation of Engineers in climate dialogue. With a specific focus on engineering solutions for reaching net zero, the students shared their views and ideas on a variety of topics.
The debate will be broadcast to schools and the most popular suggestions will be shared with government officials and policymakers. Both made valuable contributions; Luke highlighted the need for increased government investment in green technologies, whilst Megan discussed the significant challenge to finding a fossil fuel-free heating solution. Luke and Megan have been attending Active Ecology enrichment this term and are part of Berkeley Green UTC’s burgeoning Eco-Committee.
Watch this space for the positive changes we will be implementing at the UTC!
