Careers at SGS Berkeley Green UTC
Our mission is to enable young people to become successful STEM specialists by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, networks and personal qualities necessary to flourish in their professional and private lives. Careers, employability and professionalism are therefore at the heart of everything we do.
The UTC believes that by helping develop young people’s industry experience and employability skills, students will be able to enhance their career prospects. When they study with us, students can expect to have a unique, specialist curriculum and a competitive advantage for when they enter into the job market or progress further into education.
During a student’s time at the UTC they can expect to take part in a number of activities designed to develop them into young professionals. Our employability programme is carefully delivered by both industry specific external stakeholders and UTC staff committed to delivering excellence in careers information and advice. You can find further information about how we do this on our Careers Policy and Programme link.
The UTC has a designated member of the senior leadership team as careers lead to ensure that the employability curriculum is always considered in all aspects of school life. We have an Employability and Progression Coordinator to help implement our programme and provide information for students. In addition, the UTC provides student access to an external careers advisor who delivers impartial advice, especially around key decision-making points.
