Term 6 Curriculum
During the summer term of 2021 – 7th June to the 21st July – year 11 and year 13 students will still be entitled to access the curriculum. At the UTC we have planned a series of activities for year 11 and year 13 to take part in.
One site provision
Due to our geographic location and the cost involved for the students to physically attend the UTC we will not run any on site provision for year 11 or year 13 students after the 28th May 2021, other than our taster event. All other activities will be delivered remotely.
Curriculum Catch-up and transition to post-16 studies
Students in year 11 will be set summer work for each of the courses they have selected to study with us in the academic year 2021-2022. This summer work will contain a series of tasks that allow students to plug any gaps in their KS4 learning, and give them a taster of what some of the knowledge and skills needed for their post-16 courses of choice.
All of these sessions will be shared on the UTC website and students will be expected to work through the relevant activities at their own pace. These sessions will not be teacher led.
Pastoral needs
Using the UTC Teams channel for years 11 and 13 we will share regular activities for students to do that are not focused on the taught curriculum. These activities will allow students to deepen their understanding of real world issues and provide them with opportunities to develop their employability skills.
We will run a ‘Bring a Brew’ session each week for students in year 11 and year 13 to meet over Teams and discuss anything they want to with a member of the VIP team.
Training and study skills
As part of our pastoral needs provision, some of these activities will make use of our Unifrog system. Students will be directed to complete Unifrog activities and MOOCs in their own time. These sessions will not be teacher led. Year 13s will be able to book an appointment with our employability coordinator to discuss their destination by emailing siobhan.williams@berkeleygreenutc.org.uk
