External Examination Access Arrangements:

The Forest High School will provide the appropriate access arrangements for examinations. This will be based on individual need and in line with current JCQ regulations.

Students who experience poor processing skills, or who experience particular challenges with their handwriting skills, or who have a Verbal CATs score of 85 or below, may qualify for additional support when they are taking public examinations. Students with identified SpLD may also require additional support, irrespective of their CATs scores.

This support may include:

  • Additional time in each examination (typically 25%, although in some cases 50% may be awarded);
  • A Reader
  • A Scribe
  • A Prompter
  • The use of a Word Processor
  • Rest Breaks during examinations

Students may be identified at any point in their school career. At The Forest High School they are assessed at the end of KS3, in line with current JCQ regulations, to determine the level and type of support to which they are entitled.
