This is a role which involves working very closely with GCSE and A Level students aged 14-19, individually and in groups, to enable them to take the fullest advantage of all that takes place at the UTC. You will take a proactive role in ensuring that students have full access to the curriculum and their examinations, working closely with teachers and other supporting professionals to identify and meet student needs. You will be somebody who is able to build positive relationships with young people while maintaining firm boundaries so that alongside their academic development, they are well-prepared for life beyond the UTC. You will help our students to work well as part of a team, with mutual respect; to understand their own rights and work for the rights of others, and to build the skills necessary for independent study.
The role of LSA can be challenging but incredibly rewarding so this position will suit somebody with a cheerful outlook, personal resilience and excellent communication skills. You would be part of a small but experienced and supportive SEND team. We welcome applications from candidates with any level of experience.
SGS Berkeley Green UTC opened in September 2017 with outstanding facilities, in a state-of-the-art building. We provide specialist, high quality technical and academic education for 14-19 students with a strong interest in Engineering and Digital Technologies including Cyber Security. Although we are a specialist centre, English and Maths are very much the foundations on which all else rests. Developing learners who are confident, fluent and creative is a priority for us. Have a read of our Ofsted report to find out why we are such a good place to work.
The UTC is still small but growing, with around 300 students on roll from September 2022. For the right candidate, this will provide a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of a school, to get to know every student and every member of staff, and to make a real difference to outcomes for young people.
We encourage visits to the UTC before you complete an application so please contact us to arrange a visit and to meet the SEND team.
Why choose SGSAT Berkeley Green UTC? You will become part of the wider SGS family supporting you with your professional development, access to the LGPS/Teachers Pension scheme, discounted shopping benefits, and access to a wide variety of external health and wellbeing resources.
