Full Time Equivalent Salary Range: £21,030.00 pro rata per annum

Actual Salary Range:  £5,918.90 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time Term Time Only (39 weeks per year) Part Time

Hours: 12 hours per week

Term Time Only Contracts will occur a salary adjustment if the start date is after 1st September

This role will support the local school boards for both SGS Berkeley Green University Technical College and SGS Pegasus Free School. SGS Academy Trust formed in response to the request of the Regional Schools Commissioner, Sir David Carter in November 2014.

South Gloucestershire and Stroud College sponsor the Trust, and their size and range of expertise forms the basis of the support for schools within the Trust.

There are three schools within the Trust:

SGS Berkeley Green University Technical College opened in September 2017 and is a 14 – 19 school with a curriculum specialising in advanced manufacturing and digital technologies.  The UTC has a distinctive role as the only UTC in Gloucestershire and provides specialist vocational education and achieving excellent success in student destinations.

 

SGS Pegasus Free School supports students who have a statement diagnosing that they have Autistic Spectrum Condition and was opened in September 2017, with a purpose built £7.5 million new school building opened in September 2019.   SGS Pegasus aims to develop the whole student by creating a bespoke learning experience that celebrates their talents and successes.

 

Forest High School is situated in Cinderford, Forest of Dean.  Forest High School is for pupils aged 11 to 16 and the school is small, intimate and student focused.

 

 

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

The Governance Officer will provide an effective administrative and advisory support to the School Board, ensuring the Board is properly constituted in line with the approved SGS AT School Board (LSB) Terms of Reference and effective management of the LSB Calendar of Business and meetings.  You will advise and support the Local School Board with any requirements for School Board member review panels for parental complaints and student exclusions.

 

You will liaise with the Chair of the School Board, School Head Teacher and SGS AT Governance Manager in respect of required provision of information and reporting to the School Board and SGS Academy Trust Board. You will also provide some central and Governance administrative support to the SGS AT Governance Manager.  The successful applicant will ideally be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of governance procedures, roles and responsibilities in an education setting although transferable skills and openness to learn will also be a key attribute for the role.

 

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of Microsoft packages and experience of working as a Governance Officer in a similar post would be desirable.  You will also have excellent organisation skills, be able to prioritise work, work flexibility to meet the needs of the Board and meet deadlines.
