Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Science preferred)

Salary: Up to £25,848 pro rata per annum, depending upon experience

Contract Type: Part-Time & Fixed term until August 2022

Hours: 34.5 hours per week & Term-Time Only

At the UTC, we are committed to closing gaps between students with learning needs and their peers. This is a role which involves working very closely with students, individually and in groups, to enable them to reach their full potential. You will take a proactive role in ensuring that students have full access to the curriculum, working closely with teachers and other supporting professionals to identify and meet student needs.

The post holder will at times work with small groups of students outside of the classroom. Although you will be particularly involved with Science learning, you may be asked to support students in other subject areas.

You will be somebody who is able to build positive relationships with young people while maintaining firm boundaries so that alongside their academic development, they are well-prepared for life beyond the UTC. You will help our students to work well as part of team, with mutual respect; to understand their own rights and work for the rights of others, and to build the skills necessary for independent study.

SGS Berkeley Green UTC opened in September 2017 with outstanding facilities, in a state-of-the-art building. We provide specialist, high quality technical and academic education for 14-19 students with a strong interest in Engineering and Digital Technologies including Cyber Security. Although we are a specialist centre, the core subjects are very much the foundations on which all else rests.

The UTC is still small but growing, with around 280 students on roll from September 2021. For the right candidate, this will provide a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of a school, to get to know every student and every member of staff, and to make a real difference to outcomes for young people.

Join us, and make a real difference.
