SGS Berkeley Green UTC is a small, specialist technical school for students aged 14-19. We are a small, tightly-knit and caring community with a clear sense of purpose. We are therefore looking for a team player, someone who asks: what can I do to help? In return you can enjoy a role that really reflects our ethos and helps set the tone for interactions on a daily basis.
You will work closely with our Science team, supporting curriculum delivery by carrying out a range of duties. These duties will focus on assisting teachers in preparing for lessons by setting up equipment, trialing practical activities and demonstrations, and maintaining stocks of resources including chemicals. You will provide technical assistance to support the development of all practical aspects of curriculum delivery across both key stages. You will take a proactive role in ensuring that the safeguarding needs of the UTC are met, working closely with colleagues to create a safe and healthy environment. You will therefore be somebody who is able to build positive relationships with young people while maintaining firm boundaries.
You will need to have excellent practical skills, as outlined in the job description, but also administration skills, particularly in the use of Microsoft Office applications. This position will suit somebody with a cheerful outlook and excellent organisational skills.
SGS Berkeley Green UTC opened in September 2017 with outstanding facilities, in a state-of-the-art building. We provide specialist, high-quality technical and academic education for students aged 14-19 with a strong interest in Engineering and Digital Technologies including Cyber Security. Our students wear business attire, call staff by their first names and generally demonstrate excellent professional values.
The UTC is still small but growing, with around 280 students on roll from September 2021. For the right candidate, this will provide a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of a school, to get to know every student and every member of staff, and to make a real difference to outcomes for young people.
Join us, and make a real difference.
